Week 2 Reflection
This week proved to be very beneficial to me as I begin to really comprehend action research and it's value in schools. As a future administrator I will definitely utilize action research so that my school will function at very high levels. Listening to Dr. Kirk Lewis, Superintendent of Pasadena ISD, on the videos was enlightening as well. He communicated about action research and how imperative it is to success within the school. His district received a grant from Bill and Melinda Foundation and used the money to create a program called "Expectation Graduation." The premise behind this program is a data driven philosophy that empowers administrators and teachers to perform action research within their schools so that high academic achievement is reached. He also elaborated that action research should be practical to fit the specific needs of the school. I really enjoyed this aspect of his discussion- PRACTICALITY! Makes a lot of sense to me.
